Exams and Grades

There are two proctored exams in the course: a midterm, covering lessons 1 through 4; and a final, covering lessons 6 through 9. The midterm exam contains multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, and short-answer questions. It is worth 100 points. The final exam is all multiple choice and has a total of 65 questions. Lessons 5 and 10 provide study tips and review lists, as well as information about applying for each exam.

Your final grade in the course will be based upon your performance on the eight assignments and two exams. Each assignment and exam will be scored on the basis of percentages. Each assignment and exam is worth 100 percent.

The grading scale will be as follows:

97 A-plus, 93 A, 90 A-minus; 87 B-plus, 83 B, 80 B-minus; 77 C-plus, 73 C, 70 C-minus; 67 D-plus, 63 D, 60 D-minus; 59 and below, F

Your average percentage on the eight assignments will count toward 50 percent of your final course grade; each exam will count toward 25 percent.

Important: According to IU High School Program policy, your exam grades must average at least a D− for you to pass the course. Even if your assignment grades are excellent, you will not pass the course unless you fulfill this requirement.
